Demke and Team Peen Taste Sweet Victory at the Winternationals
Pomona, Ca – Chris Demke and the Peen Rite Top Alcohol Dragster Team went to the 2012 NHRA race season opener with a hunger. Their Winternationals victory turned out to be a feast. The sugared treat at the end was Demke’s final round 5.281 @ 270.32. It was low ET of the event, and that has Demke and the Maddern Racing Team planning for the future.
“The win was so sweet, and the 5.28 was icing on the cake,” said Demke. “There is no better way to start a season than with a win, and we have high hopes.”
Pomona, Ca – Cody Perkins comes to the Winternationals prepared to make the grade. Last year’s season ending event did not exactly go as planned. The images of a wild ride filled with smoke and a banged up race car were replayed all winter long. Now that the 2012 NHRA season is here, Perkins is looking to create new memories from the Auto Club Raceway.
“The last time we were here at Pomona there was something exciting every time down the track,” said Perkins. “We never had a boring run.”
Pomona, Ca – Johnny Ahten’s Nitromethane injected Top Alcohol Dragster has gained a few pounds over the long winters break. The car is now a few ounces heaver with the addition of some new stickers. Johnny, a Fire Department Captain, is proud to announce that he has added Fireman’s Brew as a promotional partner. Fireman’s Brew is a Brewing company created by two California Firefighters after battling a brushfire.
“I’m so excited to be working with Fireman’s Brew this weekend,” said Ahten. “Pomona has a real sense of family with all the fellow firefighters that come out for the race.”
Demke Looking to Get it Started at the Winternationals
Pomona, Ca – Chris Demke and the Maddern Racing Peen Rite sponsored Top Alcohol Dragster have waited long enough. Days have been marked off the calendar, parts ordered, cleaned, and massaged. Strategies have been mulled over and plans have been made. The winter layoff is over, and it’s time to go racing. Thursday February 9th is a day to be celebrated as it marks the start of the2012 racing season.
Pomona, Ca. – The concept of Drag Racing is simple. Run your car in a straight line as fast as you can to the finish. Cody Perkins found out at the 47th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals that it is never dull. The 801 Racing sponsored Top Alcohol Dragster provided a few memorable trips down the quarter mile.
“There was something exciting every time down the track,” said Perkins. “We never had a boring run.”
Pomona, Ca – Johnny Ahten had one thing on his mind after the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals. Where can he find another race? After three consecutive weekends racing, Ahten and his CleanBoost Team were physically worn out, but they wanted more.
Pomona, Ca. – Cody Perkins and the 801 Racing Team are looking to days gone by for inspiration. The venue is the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. It is at this track that Perkins ran his career best. A 5.33 elapsed time blast that he would like to improve upon. The motivation is in place and history is on his side.
“Pomona has treated us pretty good,” said Perkins. “In fact, when my father first ran Pomona he unloaded the car from the trailer and ran a 5.41. We also have made some big hits here and we are looking forward to the challenge”
Pomona, Ca – Growing up in southern California, Johnny Ahten would go to the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona and dream of driving an A-Fuel car. Starting Thursday, Ahten and his CleanBoost Dragster are planning on letting the whole neighborhood know about it.
“We want to make some noise,” said Ahten. “Everyone knows when the dragsters are running, In fact, they have walls and even special gates to keep the noise down a bit.”

POMONA, Calif. -- Pulling into the races with the #2 on your race car gives a whole new meaning to any race team. As friendly as all the racers are with each other in the pits, when it's race day, they all want to be the team that puts the higher ranked team on the trailer.
There is no question that Maddern Racing, with pilot Chris Demke, have proven themselves to be a power house each and every time they compete. The Clean Boost Performance Oil / Peen Rite Dragster ran within .04 hundredths of a second all weekend with mid to high 5.20 passes that secured them into the #2 qualifying position for race day and took them into the Semi Final round of competition.
